Principles of Computer Security
The Principles of Computer Security course is a Master-level course. This means that it is intended for the students enrolled in the Master of Network and System Administration. In the fall of 2008, there is a separate course named Datasikkerhet intended for the Bachelor students.
If you are a student in the "Dataingeniør" or "Informatikk", you do have an option of following this course instead of the Datasikkerhet course. If you choose to do so, be aware that the course is taught in english, and there might be a higher skill requirement.
The first class is taught on Wednesday, August 22nd at 08:30 am, and will take place in P35-PI257. The main lectures will be on Wednesdays at the same time.
There will also be activity on Tuesdays. It will be at 08:30 in room PS340. There will be some lectures, and some student activity.
You will find the lecture notes for the course here.
We had a guest lecture by Eivind Eriksen on Wednesday, November 7th. He talked about Encryption, and public-private key encryption in particular. You will find hils lecture at http://home.hio.no/~eeriksen/crypto.pdf
One of these books is required. They have different strengths and weaknesses, but I will be using the Gollmann book as the main book for the course.
